Most Frequently Asked Questions about Procreate

Most Frequently Asked Questions about Procreate

What Exactly Is Procreate?
Procreate is a digital illustration app that can be purchased in the Apple App Store. It allows you to use your iPad to create art and lettering etc. It's similar to drawing on paper, but much easier and faster. You can even undo or redo previous steps! This is the main reason I switched from messy traditional painting to digital painting! From simple shapes, lines, and text to more complicated designs, pictures, and even animations, you can create it all here :)

What Devices Does Procreate Support?
Procreate is only available for iOS devices, and it will only work on iPads and iPhones. However, on iPhone, the app is called Procreate Pocket, and because you cannot use your Apple Pencil on the iPhone, many features are limited. If you do not have an iPad and are unsure whether it is worth the purchase, you can install the app on the iPhone to get a basic understanding of what it is like and what it can do before deciding to invest in an iPad.

How Much Storage Do I Need for Procreate?
When you just want to get started as a hobbyist, even 32 GB may be enough. However, I recommend getting more than this so you don't have to constantly move your artwork off of your iPad. If you illustrate on Procreate for a living, I would recommend at lest 256 GB. My first iPad was a gift and had only 32 GB, and it took me only a few months to realize I needed to invest in a bigger and better device. I was making do with uploading my files to Google Drive and Dropbox, but it was way too time consuming and distractive.

Is Wifi Required for Procreate?
To use Procreate, you don't need to be connected to the internet. Your iPad is where your app and artwork are shown. In the event that something goes wrong with your iPad, you'll want to back up your artwork to your device or cloud storage system using WiFi.

What Is the Best Way to Save in Procreate?
The artwork you make in Procreate is automatically saved within the app. The problem is that if you uninstall the program, all of your artwork will be gone. So you probably want to make regular backups of your artwork. I use a paid service called Dropbox for the most part, but I also send my files to my Google Drive account just in case.

How Much Does It Cost to Use Procreate?
Procreate costs $9.99, and is really a no-brainer especially if you already have an iPad.

Is it a one-time purchase or a subscription for Procreate?
I'm thrilled to inform you that Procreate is a one-time investment. Despite the fact that many other program have switched to a subscription model, Procreate is still charging just a one-time payment.

How to Make an Apple Pencil Work with Procreate?
If your Apple Pencil is attached to your iPad, it will instantly connect to Procreate.
Bluetooth is used to link Apple pencils. If you have a Generation 1 pencil, it will connect to the charging connector when you plug it in. When you connect a Generation 2 pencil to the magnetized region of the iPad to charge it, it will connect.

Is it possible to use Procreate without having an Apple Pencil?
Is an Apple Pencil required for Procreate? No, you may use your finger or a conventional stylus to sketch.

Is it okay if you don't have an Apple Pencil to work with Procreate?

No. The Apple Pencil, I believe, is what makes Procreate so wonderful. When you use the Apple Pencil, the instruments in Procreate behave exactly like real art equipment.
The Apple Pencil is without a doubt the best sylus for Procreate. (Be careful to buy the appropriate one for your model.)

Is it Possible to Use Procreate on a MacBook?
Procreate is exclusively available for iPad. It is not compatible with the MacBook. A touch screen is not available on the Macbook.

You may also connect your iPad to an external monitor to see your design in greater detail. I'm not sure if other iPads can do this, but my iPad Pro uses USB-C to connect to my external monitor, where I can see my artwork being generated.

Is Procreate available for PC?
Digital artists frequently create their work on a computer with a tablet. Is it possible to use Procreate on a computer? No. Procreate is only compatible with iOS.
Many people want to know how to install Procreate on Windows, but it isn't possible. Procreate is not compatible with Windows.

Is Procreate compatible with the Surface Pro?
No. Procreate is exclusively available for iPads. Here's where you can find the greatest tablet for Procreate.

Is Procreate available for free on Android?
Android does not support Procreate.

It is not possible to procreate for free anywhere. It's cheap and worth a lot more than what they're asking for it.

Will Procreate be available on Android?
According to the Procreate website, there are no plans to create an Android version of the app.

Is It Necessary to Use a Screen Protector When Using Procreate?
While a screen protector isn't required for Procreate to function, I find that using one makes it easier for me to manage my Apple Pencil.
This allows me to draw and write more effectively on my iPad.

Read this post to learn more about my preferred screen protector for writing and drawing in Procreate.

Aside from enhancing my drawing and lettering skills, I appreciate the added protection that a screen protector provides for my iPad. You know what it's like to scratch the screen if you've ever had a scratch on your phone. It's a huge letdown.

Many individuals (including Apple) believe that you don't need a screen protector for your iPad. You most likely don't. Personally, I won't take the chance.

When Do I Need to Buy Something Else in Order to Use Procreate?
